    "Humphrey Varney, Dover 1659, s. of Wm. and Bridget of Gloucester, ment. in her will 1671. Prob. a Quaker, as many of his desc., he pleaded non-conviction to charge of abs. from meeting 1663. He m. 2 Mar. 1664 Sarah (Starbuck) Austin. The recorder called her Sarah Storer, (in error) doubtless having in mind the widow Sarah Storer of Dover who had m. Samuel Austin in 1661. Note birth of s. John Varney in Nantucket 1664. Humphrey's f-in-law Edward Starbuck confirmed to him 11 May 1664 20a. formerly given to s-in-law Joseph Austin. Lists 49, 52, 356efghk, 359ab. His will, 17 Sept, 1713 - 2 Jun. 1714, aged, ment. w. Sarah, dau. Abigail Brackson, sons Ebenezer, Peter (all Lands). Ch: JOHN b.
