Denton celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a family dinner at their home, 323 East Bridge, (Blackwell, OK) Sunday.Baskets of yellow roses, potted plants and mixed bouquets, representing gifts from friends and relatives were used about the rooms of the home.The dining table was covered with a linen cut work and Battenburg banquet cloth.The centerpiece was a decorated three-tiered wedding cake, iced in white with rosebuds of gold and pink and topped with an arch of gold leaves from which was suspended a golden wedding bell, beneath was the inscription, "50th Anniversary."Three golden tapers in crystal cadelabra burned at either end of the centerpiece and similax was entwined throughout the length of the table.A gold banded china service was used in keeping with the occasion.The afternoon was spent in taking technicolor movies and in conversation.An appropriate gift in gold was given to M. and Mrs. Denton by the family.Mrs. Denton was presented with a camelia corage, festooned with gold metallic ribbon and Mr. Denton with a boutonniere.Mr. and Mrs. Denton are widely known Cherokee Strip pioneers.Mr. Denton made the "run" and settled on a claim in the Round Grove community three miles east and two and a half south of the present site of Blackwell.The couple were married at Howard, Kansas on January 8, 1894 and Mrs. Denton was among the first to enter this community as a bride.Members of the family who were present were Mr. and Mrs. Guy V. Denton and their daughter, Miss Dorothy Denton and son, Guy Morgan Denton, all of Howard, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Denton and son, Richard Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Denton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Ellison of Stillwater and Mrs. Aubrey J. Denton and daughter, Darla- Blackwell, Oklahoma
