They divorced on September 10, 1936. John died 5 Oct 1948 in Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana. (Schauweker, John W, about 69, (b. 9-30-1879) a Jefferson Twp farmer until he moved to Albion about a year and a half ago, died October 5, 1948, at McCray Hospital in Kendallville, where he had been taken September 16, suffering from a broken hip received in a fall while he was loading stock on a truck. He was a member of the Methodist Church, North Star Lodge 380, IOOF, and the Rebekah Lodge 92. Surviving are two adopted daughters, Joan at home, and Mrs. Howard Rimmel of Wolcottville; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter at Avilla, and two sisters, Mrs. Retha Mahnesmith of Albion and Mrs. Alice Forker of San Gabriel, Calif. Services will be at the Methodist Church. Interment, Rose Hill Cemetery.) (Schauweker, Clara Luella, was the daughter of William and Julia Sutherlin, born August 24, 1881 near Warsaw. There were four children in the family, two sisters with the parents are deceased, one brother, Earle Sutherlin of Warsaw survives her. Her mother died when Clara was a very small girl so she was taken to the Wayland Home near Warsaw, where she lived until about 13 years of age, when she came to Noble County and lived in the George Hines home in Jefferson Twp. In 1900 she married John Schauweker. About 21 years ago the family adopted a daughter, Ethel, who, with three grandchildren, remain. She was a member of North Star Rebekah Lodge, No. 92, the Rehoboth Lutheran Church and the Jefferson Twp Home Division. During the night of April 15, she suffered a stroke from which she died on Easter morning, being 51 years, seven months and 22 days of age.) Leo Charles, born 11 Jul 1882. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Homer Cory Schauweker; a son, John of Oakland, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Reddy of San Gabriel, Calif.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Forker of San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Retha Mahnesmith of Albion; 2 brothers, John of Albion, and Walter of Avilla; one cousin, Mrs. Edna Thomas of Albion. She was a lifelong resident of this community and was a retired practical nurse from McCray Hospital. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband, Andrew; one son, Lavon Mahnesmith of Garrett; a sister, Mrs. Alice Forker of Calif.; a brother, Walter of Avilla; a stepson; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was born in Noble County to Franklin P. and Mary Lucy (Earle) Schauweker. After her marriage in 1916 to J. Bryan Forker she moved to Fort Wayne where she lived until 1945. She and (appears to be a line missing) her daughter, Mrs. Helen L. Bishop; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Walter Schauweker of Avilla; and several nieces and nephews.
