Frances Marion Jackson (1831-1899), son of Enoch Winchester Jackson, Esq. (1804-1874) and Betsey White Jackson (1809-1874), was born in the old Jackson Homestead on Salt Fork Creek in a humble log cabin, which stood where the center of the road is now, between the well, milk or ice house and the lilac bush on the edge of the creek. The little stone milk house was used to keep food cool in the summer, and in the winter they filled it with blocks of ice to use through the summer. There was another log house a short distance south, a hundred feet or so. A well is still there.

Frank Jackson went to the Salt Fork School with Frances Langdale (1834-1910), who lived on the hill east of the school. Besides attending the same little school, they went to the same house for church. They fell in love, married and established a christian home in one of the log cabins around the Jackson Homestead.

Frank and Frances "Fanny" Langdale Jackson built a nice frame house high above any danger of creek floods on the next farm north of the old Homestead.

This farm was later owned by Harvey "Harve" D. Jackson (1874-1951), and today (1975) it is still owned by his son, Elza Jackson (b. 1900). The house still stands but the barn was washed away by flood waters.

Frank Jackson was a school teacher for several years; appointed Postmaster at Lawrenceburg 1853 to 1865; County Treasurer 1857-63; Clerk at the Court House 1861-64; Township Trustee 1885-93.

Frances Langdale attended the Elizabethtown Female Seminary during 1856-58.

Floyd (1881-1958) and his brother, Clyde Jackson (1879-1941), with their cousin, Emert Jackson, played many times in this old cabin, chasing each other up and down the narrow crooked stairway. These boys were 50 years younger than the Uncle Frank Jackson spoken of above. There were three log cabins around the Jackson Homestead here which today may still be found except one which the creek has completely effaced. Another the creek took all but the stone chimney. Floyd Jackson hauled the ashes to the hill top to enrich the garden. Bits of blue dishes are still sometimes turned out of the soil.

Frank and Frances are both buried at Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Dearborn Co., IN near Lawrenceburg, Dearborn Co., IN.
