  3.   Obituary:

"WICK, Robert James, died peacefully on Friday September 3, 2010 at his home in San Gabriel. He was born August 28, 1922 in Long Beach, CA, son of Forrest and Winifred Wick. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Wick of San Gabriel, CA and his son (name omitted). He married Marilyn Lubbring on July 23,1949 and was widowed in 1975. His daughter Diane Quintieri died earlier in 2010.

Robert served his country during WWII as a US Navy aircraft carrier combat pilot (Ensign). He graduated from UCLA and USC in Education, and taught History and Anthropology at Arcadia High School for 35 years.

He loved and greatly enjoyed his family, and was equally close to his mother and siblings. A favorite family vacation spot was their cabin in Green Valley Lake, CA. He was very proud of each of his three children, and is forever grateful to his daughter Joyce for the loving care and companionship she provided.

A memorial celebration will be held at the Los Angeles Arboretum at 301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia CA on Saturday, September 11 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Donations may be made to the Arboretum in his name to be used for a memorial tree."
Note to above: A family member sent a correction to the effect that Bob got his wings in 1944 and never served in WW II. Also, he ended as a Lt, not an ensign. Records from the National Archives indicate that he was a navigtor/bombadier.
