Enoch enrolled as a private in Company K, 96th Ohio Volunteer Infantry onf August 6, 1862, to July 7, 1865 [2 years, 11 months and 1 day]. No disability - expiration of service. In 1860, Enoch and Christiana lived in Allen Township of Union County, Ohio, with their children, Wm. M., 7, Susannah, 6, Elijah R., 4, Evaline, 2, and Caroline, 2. Enoch was a farmer. In 1870, Enoch and Cristine were again living in Allen Township with their children, William, 19, Susan, 16, Elijah, 14, Eveline, 9, Caroline, 9, Nancy, 7, and Frank, 1/12. Enoch was a farmer with $378 in real estate and $210 in personal property. In 1900, Enoch and Christiana were living in Allen Township with their son Jessie, 23, and his wife Daisy, 22, and their daughter, Doras W., 4/12. Enoch was a retired farmer, and Jessie was a day laborer. In 1910, Christin Spain, 76, a widow, was living with her son Jesse Spain, 29, and a grandson Theadore Spain, 21. Jesse was a farm laborer, and Theadore was a teamster laborer. Enoch and Christian had 13 children who attended Springtown School. He lived across the road from the now existing Honda plant. Enoch was 80 years, 9 months and 24 days old when he died. They are both buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg, Ohio. |
