John's obituary reads, "ILLNESS FATAL TO MERCHANT, 79. John Schaab, Resident of Fort Wayne for 24 Years, Dies at St. Joseph Hospital. John Schaab, 79, 437 East Suttenfield street, a senior member of the Schaab Flooring and Supply Co., 1216 North Harrison street, died at 4:35 p.m. yesterday at the St. Joseph's hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Schaab, a resident of Fort Wayne for 24 years, was born in Knox county, O. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church here and the Holy Name society. Surviving are the widow, Aline; a son, A. K. Schaab, and a daughter, Mrs. J. C. Weirman, both of Fort Wayne; three brothers, George, Charles and William Schaab, all of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives have been requested to omit flowers. The body was removed to the Mungovan & Sons' funeral home and will be returned to the residence at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon. Services will be held at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning at the residence, and at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Charles H. Thiels officiating. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery at New Haven. The Holy Name society will meet at the home Sunday evening for the reading of the rosary."
