This Indenture Made the Eighth day of July Seventeen hundred and ninety nine between Christopher Huston of Iredale (sic) County & State of North Carolina of the one part & Robert Houston of Washington County and State of Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred Pounds paid to the said Christopher Houston in hand Doth bargain and Sell unto Robert Houston and his heirs a certain tract of land in the county of Washington & State of Virginia containing~ four hundred acres be the same more or less lying and being on both sides of the South Fork of the Holsteins (sic) River and bounded as follows.
- Beginning (sic) at a white oak near the head of a Spring running South Sixty degrees East, fifty four poles to a Single and double popper
- then South Eighty two degrees East eighty four poles to a dogwood on Gidion Faires’s (sic) line
- then South fifty Six degrees east one hundred & fifty eight poles to a white oak,
- then South Sixty Seven degrees west fifty one poles to a white oak and popler, (sic)
- then South Sixty Six degrees west eighty poles to Himey (sic)
- then South Seventeen degrees & a half degrees east one hundred and ninety two poles crossing the river to a poppler (sic) a corner to James Keys land
- South twenty nine degrees west thirty Six poles to a black oak corner to Samuel Wears (sic) Land
- then North thirty Six degrees West one hundred and thirty Six poles to a June berry Tree with Wears (sic) line
- North fifty Seven degrees West forty poles to a white oke (sic) near the river,
then South Seventy Six degrees West twenty eight poles to a cowcumber on the North Side of the river,
then North eighty degrees west eighty poles to poppler (sic) a corner to Robert Ramsey,
then North Seven degrees west Seventy two poles to a large white oak North fifty Seven Degrees west twenty poles to a large poppler, (sic)
then North forty two degrees west forty poles two Birches
thence leaving Ramseys (sic) Corner North twelve degrees east one hundred Seventy four poles to the Begining (sic)
Originally granted to the Said Houston with its appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the Said Tract of land with its appurtenances xxx to the Said Robert Houston and his heirs to the only use and School of him the Said Robert houston (sic) his heirs and assigns forever And the Said Chrisotain (sic) Houston and his heirs Shall and will warrant and forever defend the Said tract of land with all its privilages (sic) appurtenances to the Said Robert Houston heirs and assigns against all Lawfull (sic) Claims of all persons whatsoever In Witness whereof I have
