naming conventions at WeRelate [2 February 2009]

Vicki, Here at WeRelate they do not include the middle name in the title of the page.

only the given name and the surname is used.

Once on that person's page you can add the full name within the name fields.

So I will have to go back in and change the Barbara Ann Ritter back to Barbara Ritter, yet her FULL name will appear as Barbara Anna Ritter on her person page.

Also, on the "places" they never add the word county, or any form of it.

I have had one heck of a time trying to clean up the mess that was created when I uploaded my GEDCOM, cause I have ALWAYS inserted "Co." after the name of any county.

As I have time I have been created what is called a "redirect" which means basically to aim a page that was incorrectly named to open an existing page that is correct.

I know it is not what you are used to, it was difficult for me to get used to as well when I first joined.

But these are the rules the volunteers agreed to when they first set up the website.

Here are some pages that might help you to look over [the help pages]

When you see something in RED, you know that is a "non existent" page, so if you enter a place or person and it appears in Red, you will know it needs edited.

I can help you more over the phone, are you free evenings after 9pm?

I am sorry I have been busy last couple days with the whole grandbaby refusing a bottle family emergency, it is still a issue (sigh) --Kristy 22:57, 1 February 2009 (EST)
