Hi Dallan.

To be honest, No. I thought it would take about an hour to upload. When after almost 48 hours it had not uploaded I just gave up and started to use a different wiki site.

On this other site, although it is slightly more complex to create pages they are more fluid, and the chance of duplicates are much slimmer. I have been discussing Wiki sites on a roots magic mailing list. This time last week I had never come across the concept. I have now looked at two sites and chosen to stick with the one that, in my opinion, is better for me. Penelope Blake 01:21, 22 June 2007 (BST)

Fair enough. Too bad we didn't get to a chance to upload your GEDCOM (I'm still not sure why it didn't upload the first time), but that's how it goes. What was other the site that you chose?--Dallan 19:39, 21 June 2007 (MDT)

I also read your comments regarding the uploading of my Gedcom file and I think you made a good point so I have decided to re-upload my Gedcom file in the hope that the same error occurs. That way you can look into the problem and hopefully it will nto happen to anyone else. I may or may not choose to stick with WeRelate but for the good of the Genealogy community I should at least help out others who do choose WeRelate.

Thanks. I see it - it's in the same situation as before. I'm trying to get in touch with User:Npowell, the GEDCOM programmer, to see if he can review it today. If I can't reach him today we'll get on it first thing next week.--Dallan 17:27, 23 June 2007 (MDT)

We found and fixed the problem. You can start navigating from Person:Ivan Finch (4), one of the pages in your tree, or you can list all of the people in your tree. Let me know if there are any more difficulties.--Dallan 21:09, 23 June 2007 (MDT)

I notice you uploaded a second GEDCOM that had many of the same people as the first one. We check whether newly-uploaded GEDCOM's significantly overlap previously-uploaded GEDCOM's. If they overlap significantly we don't create pages for the new GEDCOM because we don't want people to create a lot of duplicate pages from the second upload that they'll just end up having to merge later. Once we get the match-merge algorithm working this Fall, you'll be able to upload a modified GEDCOM and we'll determine which people from your previous upload need to be updated and update them automatically. Until then you need to first delete your current family tree by launching the family tree explorer and selecting "Delete tree" from the "File" menu. You can then create a new tree and import your updated GEDCOM into it.--Dallan 17:09, 24 June 2007 (MDT)

New GEDCOM uploaded

I just noticed this morning that a new version of your GEDCOM was uploaded. Do you want this version to overwrite the old version? Thanks -Nathan 12:06, 25 June 2007 (MDT)

Yes Please. At the moment UI`m testing out werelate and I uploaded the new gedcom to see if it would over write. I recieved a message to say that that was something you are working on.

First delete your current family tree by launching the family tree explorer and selecting "Delete tree" from the "File" menu. You can then create a new tree and import your updated GEDCOM into it.--Nathan 20:46, 26 June 2007 (MDT)
