StephenPhelps5.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [14 April 2009]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Click on Trees in the "My Relate" menu, then click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in the tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler soon.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

Hi, I noticed that your new gedcom has been in review mode for a few days. It's a new system and might be a little confusing at first. Do you need any help with the review process? :)--sq 00:13, 19 April 2009 (EDT)

No, I will get to all the issues that came up in the review process, but I have had lots of other things going on in my life the last few days and have not had the time to deal with this stuff. Give me some time, please.--Mwphelps 13:12, 19 April 2009 (EDT)

Notes on Gedcom import [24 April 2009]

I excluded some living people. I hope that's ok. Some things to look at:

Edward Manning Phelps has a family with a Leia ___ born long before the marriage date
Malformed names: there are people with names like "Will" or Cain(Kain?). These produced nonstandard page titles. Please rename them.
Thurmon - Spencer remarriage. Can't do the duplicate. Please add divorce, remarriage to the one family page.
Charles Grandison Torrence - Chapel family, Eliza's birth est doesn't fit

--Judy (jlanoux) 20:42, 23 April 2009 (EDT)

The Leia with Edward is an odd one. I always thought that maybe she had been born to Edward's wife by a previous marriage/relationship. She would have been born while Edward was still in Louisiana. I marked her having been adapted by Edward and his wife after they were married. Actually it wasn't even obvious if Leia was Ida's daughter at all, as opposed to a girl that Edward and Ida took in.--Mwphelps 00:19, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

I can clean up the Cain/Kain conundrum, but names like Will are taken from the sources, and it is presumptuous to make them into anything more than that without a better source. I can understand how the Cain/Kain uncertainty would screw up a page title, but "Will?"--Mwphelps 00:23, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

I double checked several census entries for Charles Grandison's daughter (and his brother Underhill's wife) Eliza (now that's a family tree that barely forks), when the gedcom pre-processor trapped her age at marriage. Every census entry I found was consistent with the ages shown, so this may be a case where the test used by this system is simply inconsistent with what they did back in the early 1800s. The only thing I could do would be to remove her estimated birth years entirely, but it would only be to avoid a trap warning on this system. The question becomes, do we present data as we know it, or do we tailor the data to fit the preconceived notions of the data base system?--Mwphelps 00:46, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

Re Lelia -- I just took out the entire tree connected to her, and Lelia herself, so we now show no children from Edward Manning Phelps. Not sure why I had removed his son Levaniel in thi version to begin with. because he is dead. I also removed one entire marriage for George Thurmond and Theresa Spencer. These were completely separate events, separated by several years, and it still irks me that the system refuses to acknowledge them as such. Another example of fitting the data to the behavior of the system. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of it all, and removed the second marriage entirely.--Mwphelps 00:50, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

Mary R. Haughton who married Walter V Crouch [19 February 2012]

I'm coming at this family from the Crouch side. (See my webpage for Walter V. Crouch on my 'Descendants of Richard Crouch of Goochland County, VA' http://home.insightbb.com/~jecrouch9/0403_walter_v_crouch.htm

You've got Emely, William and Thomas as being children of Mary R. Haughton's marriage to William Rodchester.

1. Are you aware that Walter V. Crouch's marriage to Mary R. Haughton was his second wife, and that his first wife 'Annie E. Green' died on April 16, 1874.

2. Do you have documentation that they are indeed her children?--Jecrouch9@insightbb.com 11:57, 19 February 2012 (EST)
