Amos Lewis and Mary Hoxsie [20 November 2017]

You recently posted changes to the marriage information of Amos Lewis and Mary Hoxsie. Are you a descendant or otherwise related? Or were you simply posting primary source references? They are my fifth great grandparents. Thank you for posting the primary source reference which I have in my notes. Bill Wright texaskingbird gmail com--Bill Wright 20:57, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

I am a descendant of Amos Lewis and Mary Hoxie through their son Augustus J Lewis, his son Simeon P Lewis, and his daughter Hannah Lewis. I like this site and have found several references I did not have. I am trying to pay back by posting some not sources yet listed.--Mchesebro 22:05, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for the quick reply. You may have seen the genealogy I published in 1993. I carried down the line of Simeon for a generation or two. Most of that was from secondary sources. Have you been able to figure out Mary Potter's parentage? The Potters are tough. I never could find her parents.

Of course, his daughter, Hannah married John Babcock browning. I included information on their children and then the family of their daughter, Mary Eliza who married Elisha Watson Browning.

Augustus J Lewis was an interesting character and lived into his 90s, dying a pauper. I descend from his daughter, Penelope. Researching her was a challenge and it took me about 25 years of digging through RI records to solve the puzzles she presented. Penelope's daughter married William browning Greene in Charlestown, RI. My grandmother had their marriage certificate signed by the Charlestown Town Clerk, but the marriage is not recorded in Charlestown.

If you have unsolved questions on Rhode Island genealogy, I can check my databases and see if I have any answered. Could you send me your line of descent from Simeon? Reply direct by email is OK or directly if you you prefer.

I should add that I am out of the publishing business. After 40+ years of genealogy research, genealogy has been relegated to the back burner. Too much genealogical garbage on the internet. This is the only site that has safeguards to protect from genealogical fiction and fairy tales. --Bill Wright 01:13, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
