George Washington Bryant [3 September 2019]

Hi, Mary---

First, I see you're new here, so welcome aboard! Second, I apologize for not getting back to you quicker but I've been off doing some courthouse work for a client the past few days and haven't been on WeRelate for a bit.

As I'm sure you already know, there's been quite a lot published on the Van Winkles over the years. I've chased down a lot of the supporting sources for that material myself and have posted a lot of it on WeRelate, adding censuses and other things. Rebecca's grandparents were Alexander Van Winkle & Phoebe Coy, through Simeon Van Winkle & Berlinda Hinton. I descend from another of Alexander & Phoebe's children, however -- Mary Van Winkle, who married George Lanman. And I've done a lot of work on the Lnmans over the years.

I don't ordinarily research the ancestry of the spouses of people who aren't my own ancestors, though (or I'd never get anything else done), so I've never taken the time to look into George Bryant's ancestry. But the fourth bedroom of our house is actually a fully fitted-out genealogy library (my wife does this stuff, too), and I have a very large collection of material on the Ohio Valley, especially southern Indiana & Kentucky, and quite a lot on Missouri. Give me a few days to do some prowling and see what I can turn up.

If you haven't already done so, by the way, you might want to take a look at my own user page, User:Mksmith, just so you'll know where I'm coming from. --MikeTalk 19:47, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
