Incorrect addition to Gay family of Augusta County [31 December 2009]

Hello, I noticed that you added an alternate set of parents to Eleanor Gay. The William Gay that you have as a possible father would have been 62 years old at Eleanor's birth. In addition, you show a 27 year age difference between William Gay and his supposed wife, Margaret Walkup. I believe if you consult the work of John B. Robb, who has thoroughly researched this family, you'll see that Eleanor was most likely the daughter of John Gay and Agnes. The existence of William Gay as the progenitor of the early Gay family was basically "family tradition" and not supported by facts.

One other fact on William Gay: You show that this William Gay died in the Calfpasture in 1755. I believe if you look at the records, it is clearly this William Gay, a brother of Eleanor that died on the Calfpasture in 1755.

Please review this information and if you agree, you should delete the older William Gay and Margaret as Eleanor's parents.

Thanks and best regards,

Jim:)--Delijim 13:26, 31 December 2009 (EST)
