Loading your GEDCOM [27 November 2018]

Hi, Greg.

I can see what happened, and can offer a workaround.

I am pretty sure that what happened is that you loaded your GEDCOM when the existing page was called 'Hugh Thornton and Unknown'. WeRelate recognized a potential match. Then you renamed the existing page to 'Hugh Thornton and Eliza Long'. A rename keeps the original page and redirects it to the new page, which is exactly the same as what a merge does with the page not being kept. So WeRelate still has your GEDCOM family matched to the original page ('Hugh Thornton and Unknown'), and it treats 'Hugh Thornton and Unknown' as if it had already been merged with another page and won't allow you to merge with it. That makes sense in a normal context, but has put you in a bind for your GEDCOM upload.

The workaround is to deselect this couple from the GEDCOM upload. I think it should work - that is, allow you to upload the rest of the file. If you do this, you will have to reconnect the children to the parents after the upload is complete, and make any other updates that got left behind (e.g., sources, dates or places).

Does that work for you? If not, I would suggest contacting Cos1776, who might know more than I do about the GEDCOM upload process.
