B004FH_28MR09.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [28 March 2009]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Click on Trees in the "My Relate" menu, then click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in the tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler soon.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

Source Pages [31 March 2009]

Hello,

I am a volunteer admin here at WeRelate. I am responsible for monitoring newly added Source pages. You created two new sources that need to be edited to follow our naming conventions: Source:Buffalo Evening News. Obituary and Source:United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo. Obituary

For the Buffalo Evening News, the format would be:

United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo. Buffalo Evening News

As for the Obituary Source page, this information would be entered directly into the source citation on your person/family page. So, United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo. Buffalo Evening News would be the Source, and the Record Name would be Obituary. Considering this, I would like to remove the Source:United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo. Obituary page.

I will await your response before I proceed.

Thank you!--Jennifer (JBS66) 08:33, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

Hello Jennifer (JBS66)!

Thank you for the valued input pertaining to sources.

As a new person to WeRelate, I find my learning curve to be very flat at this point.

You may remove the "Source: United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo, Obituary".

Thanks again for taking the time to provide valued input.

Best regards, Genseekeraz--Genseekeraz 22:48, 30 March 2009 (EDT)

Genseekeraz,

What I did is, I removed both of the above sources, since no pages were linking to them yet. Then I created this new source: Source:United States, New York, Erie, Buffalo. Buffalo Evening News.

Yes, the learning curve can be a challenge at first! Take some time to visit our Community Portal and its offshoot Portals, there are some nice sample pages and help files there. If you have any questions about linking this new source to your Person or Family pages, or how to reference an obituary, please don't hesitate to ask!--Jennifer (JBS66) 07:41, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
