Next step: Review your GEDCOM [7 March 2010]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Northrip Genealogy.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Gedcom file problems [10 March 2010]

Hello, Thank you for contributing your gedcom file. I have reviewed it and there are a few problems that need fixing before we can import it. You have a number of duplicate families indicated on the Warning tab. In WeRelate we have only one page for each person and each family. Please return to review these warnings and fix them. You can click on the warning and see the family. Click the Exclude box for one of the pair of duplicates. Return to the Import tab when you have finished working. Thanks. --Judy (jlanoux) 18:34, 10 March 2010 (EST)

.ged [17 March 2010]

Jlanoux, 1. Has my 'Northrip Genealogy.ged' been uploaded, yet and if it has, how do I access it? I can not find it. 2. Is there anyway to change the font on WERELATE, I find the font used (Corsiva, I thank) very hard on my eyes after a line or two. I am dyslexic and normely use Bookman Old Style or Book Antiqua, both are much easer for me to read. Thank you, F.D.(Doug)Northrip--Doug Northrip 17:06, 17 March 2010 (EDT)

Hi I moved conversation here where it is easier for you.
1. I went to check on your file. I had been waiting for you to handle the duplicates as noted above. I'll go ahead and import it now. I'm sorry but I never saw it marked as being ready; I've been watching for it. Your pages should be there in a few minutes.
Please return tomorrow or as soon as you can and check MyRelate, Show Duplicates. This will show you if there are any other duplicates maybe missed in review. The list will be generated tonight, so you can't check until tomorrow. Thanks.
2. I'm not sure how to answer that question. Your browser should have options to change the preferred font. The exact process depends on your browser. We now have a Support option on the Help menu where you can ask questions if you can't find it. --Judy (jlanoux) 17:48, 17 March 2010 (EDT)

Did you need something? [29 March 2010]

Hi, it appears that you updated my talk page, but I can't find any changes. Did you have a question? You can reply here as I will be watching. --Judy (jlanoux) 18:22, 29 March 2010 (EDT) (WeRelate volunteer)

Benjamin Cotten [7 April 2016]

I am curious about your sources for the wife of Benjamin Cotten (1786-1872). Since you are the only one watching, I assume you made the post. Our sources are that her name was Jane Langley (1784-1863) - Father William Langley. The Waddington name has been tossed around my family for generations however, I found evidence that Benjamin had an older sister, found in a census along with Benjamin in Christian Co. Ky. Her name was Poly and married a man named Thomas Wadlington which Benjamin named his 3rd child after. The Wadlington family was of merit in Ky. I believe this clears up the "Waddington" mystery. Benjamin named his first born daughter Poly - i assume after his sister. At any rate, I wanted to check to see if you had a better source than i do before I just change anything. Thanks, JB Cotten IV
