Art,

Thanks for the updates you provided to the SIKES information I initially uploaded. Sikes is a side branch of my husband's (he's descended from Benjamin Cooley), but I became interested in Sikes due to the theory that Phebe might be Benjamin Cooley's sister. I, too, have a copy of Eleanor Rue's paper. I received permission, verbally, from Eleanor's husband to put her paper online, but I remain uncomfortable doing so without written approval. I doubt I'll get that given his health (if he's still even living). Anyway, nice to see your work here. -- Jillaine--Jillaine 09:51, 16 November 2007 (EST)

Place names [17 November 2007]

Hi again! As a volunteer here it's my job to help people get the most out of WeRelate and I just wanted to pass on a little tip.

You may be wondering why your place names links are red (Springfield, Mass., for example). This means that this place, as it is written, is not in the place index or the place index is not able to identify it properly to link to it. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean that your event will not show up on the pedigree map or be indexed in a place category. If this is a well known place, chances are it's in the index but listed differently. To get it to link, type in the town, county, or district followed by a comma and then wait a few seconds and a list of all the possible places in the index will drop down. Scroll down to the place you are interested in and click on it.

If your place is not on the list, you can create a page for it by simply typing the Town, County, Country (do not use abbreviations) and then save the page. When you click on the red link you can create a new place page for that place. If you include the latitude and longitude or if it is contained in a county or country already in the system, it will appear on your pedigree map. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a message at my User Page. Thanks for contributing to WeRelate! --Ronni 05:26, 17 November 2007 (EST)

Rebecca Sikes, etc. [29 October 2008]

I recall doing some merging with that family, but it's not an area of active research interest for me. I was just trying to consolidate what others have already uploaded to werelate. You should certainly feel comfortable about modifying Sikes family pages as your research suggests is most appropriate. Thanks!--Jrm03063 12:45, 29 October 2008 (EDT)

Regarding merge of Robert Austin [20 April 2009]

Hi Art,

I know nothing about these families. I did this as a volunteer administrator for WeRelate. We have a Duplicate pages list and we are going through and if they match we merge the pages. Feel free to edit the page as you deem necessary; if you delete the marriage date you can say why on the talk page for the family.--Volunteer Administrator-Beth 20:10, 20 April 2009 (EDT)
