allen.ged Ready for Review [3 July 2009]

Welcome to WeRelate! WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded your GEDCOM, your next step is to preview what your pages will look like and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. When you have finished your review, your GEDCOM will be imported. Click here to review your GEDCOM.

Place:Hackers Creek, Virginia, United States [3 July 2009]

Hello, I am a volunteer admin for WeRelate. I help new users. Places in the United States need to have a county, otherwise the search engine will think Hackers Creek is the county. Would you please click on rename and add the county between the name of the place and the state, i.e. Place:Hackers Creek, name of county, Virginia, United States.

Please do the same for Place:Barbour, Virginia, United States

If you have any questions, leave me a message. :) Thanks, --sq 20:27, 3 July 2009 (EDT)

Gedcom import cleanup [4 July 2009]

I have reviewed your gedcom and am releasing it. Thank you for your contribution to We Relate. I did notice that you have used some non-standard naming conventions, such as "Elizabeth wife of John Jones" and also "Mary or Alice Jones". These can cause problems in a shared space such as our wiki. So I suggest that you review them and perhaps do some cleanup. The "wife of" type don't seem too bad as the comment appears in the title field and therefore won't interfere with the search routines. The ones with "or" in the name really should be fixed. You can view your file in the Family Tree Explorer and use the list view to scroll down the list of names looking for the "or". When you edit the page you can create an alternate name to take care of documenting both uses. You may also have to rename the page title. The title should have a single given name and surname. Thus Mary Ann Jones would have a page titled "Mary Jones (#)", but her full name will appear on the page in the name field and will be used in searches. Page renaming is done with the rename button, not from edit. In the future, these can be fixed from the gedcom review and will be easier since the page won't have to be renamed. (The pages aren't created until final import.) --Judy (jlanoux) 10:29, 4 July 2009 (EDT)

Clemtown Cemetery [25 March 2013]

Find-a-Grave has a memorial for Asceneth Robinson Allen, Memorial# 91991634. So is Clemtown Cemetery in Moatsville or in Philippi? Wikipedia does have a Moatsville in Barbour County, but I am not familiar with the area. --janiejac 18:36, 25 March 2013 (EDT)
