Watchers

I have been involved in researching my ancestry, off and on, since 1995. My paternal ancestry is comprised of Irish and English immigrants who came to New England starting in the early 1870s for whom I am now seeking specific place(s)of origin in the British Isles. My maternal ancestry is a little bit more unique as it evolves from a 1908 marriage between my Irish immigrant maternal grandmother and a maternal grandfather whose ancestors had arrived in the Chesapeake area of Virginia and Maryland as early as 1621.

My research has been motivated from the beginning by a search for accuracy rather than the rapid accumulation of numbers. Accordingly, my database still numbers slightly fewer than 2000 individuals, but most have multiple sources intended to help prove their identity and relationships. My avocation as a family historian has led me to spend a good deal of time on the DelMarVA peninsula - comprising the eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia and the State of Delaware; in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, particularly Annapolis; and in the City of Baltimore. I have also traveled to both England and Ireland to seek out, with some success, my ancestral "digs".

This journey into the past has provided me with wonderful opportunities to learn new skills; study world, national and local history; travel to a variety of places which I , otherwise, might have never visited; and allowed me to meet dozens, if not hundreds, of interesting, helpful people, many of whom were my distant relatives. Now I am winding down the research phase of my quest and focusing my attention on writing a family history to leave behind for my children, grandchildren and, hopefully, generations to come. I have joined this and other like sites hoping to continue my genealogical education, meet more interesting fellow genealogists, perhaps discover more clues about my own ancestry; and share my findings in hopes that others may benefit from them as they pursue their own ancestry.
