I'm Mary Ellen Stinski, Marriage and Family Therapist. Now retired, I want to continue the research my grandmother started about her Landry ancestors. Originally from France, I am following Rene(le juene) Landry line. He was born in France (1634) and died in Port Royal Nova Scotia Canada (1686). I am a 10th generation descendent. I have completed the genealogy of the Landry's of Nova Scotia, and I am now researching the descendents of Joseph Landry (1752-1814) of Donaldsonville Louisiana. Joseph (dit bel Homme) was the first generation of the Acadians expelled from Nova Scotia by the British. As patriarch of the American line, he and his descendents played an important role in military, and political life of early Louisiana. In 1845 his children erected a family tomb in the Catholic cemetery which is now a National Historic Registered Monument. I am currently President of the Joseph Landry Foundation, which has as it's primary goal the conservation of this now dilapidated and neglected monument. We hope to soon release a web page, and begin to raise funds for it's conservation. On the web page I would like our members to contribute their own bits of knowledge to the Landry family tree on this site. I invite you to join in this effort to honor our ancestors who gave us our lives.
