I am mainly researching ancestors in the Genderen, Noord Brabant, Netherlands, area. I live in Canada, but still have many relatives living in the area.

My main target for research is Johannes Tur (sometimes spelled Thur). Who died in Genderen Holland in 1802. Before that, no traces of the name "Thur" in the area.

A document I found, about the wedding of his son Blees in 1820 states:

"that Johannes Thur, father of the

requestor, died the 15th of October
Eighteen hundred two in Genderen

That his death can't be proved by any
extract in the registers of death,
because there aren't any of these
registers of that time present at the secratary of
Eethen Genderen and Heesbeen.

That his grandparents of paternal side
have been in Switzerland for several years 
where these lived and died."

So I do not know any birth date for Johannes 

(He married Elisabeth Kuijsten - May 03, 1789 in Heusden, Noord Brabant, Netherlands)

They had four sons:

Blees Rudolf Thur (1790 – 1863)
Jan Thur (1792 -1833)  - (This is my direct descendant)
Jacob Thur (1796 – 1869)
Arien Thur (1798 - ??)

So Johannes Tur is probably from Switzerland. Nothing else to go on.
