Looking for connections to Parents/Siblings and extended family of John Inglish. We have good records of his decendents. Surname may have been spelled English early on.

Inglish, John (1777-1844):

John INGLISH shows up as an adult in about 1799 in Grainger County and later Anderson County, Tennessee in the area that becomes Campbell County. He was prominent in the local government and involved in establishment of Campbell County. He served in War of 1812 in General George Doherty's Brigade, as a Captain in the 2nd Regiment of East Tennessee Militia, under Col. Samuel Bunch.

He moved from Jacksboro, Campbell County Tennessee to Missouri about 1817, stopping first in Franklin County Missouri. He then moved further west about 1819/1820 where he helped establish one of the first settlements in central Missouri. He was prominent in the establishment of Cole County, was elected Judge and Representative to the Missouri Legislature. The homestead is located in what later became Moniteau County. His Wife was Mary (Ann) BRUTON b. 1776, d. 1850. Some think the spelling is BURTON, We’ve not been able to document either though.”

Story goes that John was born around New River VA and that the family is associated with the English Ferry.

"English Ferry":
What is Historically know as “English Ferry” is in what is now Pulaski County near Radford. The family that actually ran it spells their name Ingles, though there are lots of references to them being referred to as English or Inglish. Not yet convinced we are related to them.
