Hello fellow researchers.

I am Daryl Morgan. I have been researching my family history on and off since my first child was born in 1985.

My family is full of mysteries and legends; the Indian great grandmother, the gypsy great grandfather, the bare-knuckle fighting great-great grandmother, not to mention my maternal grandmother, a fervent Catholic with a Jewish surname, who only once in her life mentioned any of her family that she left in Sheffield, Yorkshire when she set out to live in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire in the early 1930s.

Few mysteries have been solved, few legends verified but many distant cousins and fascinating things were uncovered along the way.

Whenever I got stuck with my own family I moved sideways into the families of my two ex-husbands, my children's grandparents; Hillmans in Lancashire, England and Luitens in Den Haag, Netherlands. A few skeletons fell out of closets there and maintained my interest.

After an 'off' period of a few years, the birth of my first grandchild prompted my son to ask to see his family history records. I didn't realise how difficult this would be to share. The original paper records reside in my sister's attic in Ulverston, Cumbria, my son lives in The Hague, Netherlands and I now live in Namhae, South Korea.

I searched for a way to share the information I have gathered, but also to presrve it somewhere public should anyone else want to take up the baton after me. WeRelate seems to be the solution, though at this stage I am still getting to grips with the mechanics of it.

I would love to hear from anyone researching any branches of my family, particularly the travelling Morgans and the mysterious Levitts of Sheffield.
