I have enjoyed researching my son's ancestors since about 2001. That was how I originally defined my research goals; to identify his ancestors. I confess that I have neglected the project for long periods, but every time I come back to it I find some excitement and usually gain a reward and make progress. I was lucky in the beginning to find cousins who were already on the path and I have also made my own discoveries. For a long time I considered the question: How do I report my research?

Writing a monograph, creating a website are not reasonable options for me, but working with others to gradually build a unified family tree makes a lot of sense. Given the number of family tree websites to choose from, this must be a common attitude among amateur family researchers. In deciding which site to trust, I was impressed with WeRelate's commitment to open and free access. I am also impressed by the WeRelate community's concern for quality.
