gives £80 a yr. and £50 in plate, to s. Warren £100, and to eldest s. of
his d. Mehitable W. at 21 yrs. of age, or m. with consent of parents,
£1000; but if she have no s. this to be equal. div. among ds. if God
give them, also to ea. of said ds. at 21 yrs. or m. with consent £300; to
s. Elisha H. £100, and to eldest s. of his d. Elizabeth H. at 21 yrs. or m.
with consent £1000; then to many relat. in Eng. to sis. Ann Haynes,
Dorothy Muscate, and John Smith, sis. Stoughton, cous. i. e. neph.
Thomas Smith; then to the ch. of wh. he was mem. £50, to ten of his
poor kindr. £5 ea. to the poor of Boston £.50, to the poor of Dorchester
£20, to the art.comp.to purch. arms for poor £10 with
this striking final provis. "if both my ds. fail of posterity," he gives "for
a good hospital in Boston £1500," and he made overseers his kinsm. William
Stoughton, capt. John Richards, Mr. William Tailer, and Mr. Thomas
Smith, and £10 to ea. of them. It is not easy to discrimin. betw. this
Thomas and the first of the name, wh. was the speaker. Perhaps in
Geneal. Reg. V. 398, the two in some particul. are confus.

Samuel, Nathaniel, Mercy, Deborah, Rachel, Ann, Charity, and Mary.

1676 Mary Voaker, that seems a strange name, had Thomas b. 14
Apr. 1677. THOMAS, Chelmsford, s. of Jonas, ord. 1677, by
w. Mary had Lucy; Elizabeth both liv. to m. beside sev. wh. d. young;
Jonas, b. 20 Dec. 1684; and Thomas, 28 Sept. 1694. His w. d.
2 Dec. 1700, and he m. 2 Oct. 1702, Elizabeth d. of Rev. Samuel
Whiting, and d. 7 Dec. 1704. He was an able man, and by the exercise
of strong common sense, that (in so early a day) too many of the clergy
were afraid to show, saved one woman, accus. as a witch. THOMAS,

same, had Susanna, b. 21 Feb. 1684; and Thomas, 25 Dec. 1685.
