Tbe following was copied from the Rootsweb home page for this roll of honour:

The names in this Roll of Honour have been taken from the book “The Great War – 1914 – 1918 – New Zealand Expeditionary Force Roll of Honour” originally published in 1923 and cross-referenced to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission web-site.

The book is divided into three sections, as follows: - SECTION 1 – List of members of the NZEF killed in action, or died from wounds inflicted, accident occurring, or disease contracted while on active service - 16, 697 deaths. SECTION 2 – List of those who died after discharge from the NZEF from wounds inflicted or disease contracted while on active service - 964 deaths. SECTION 3 – List of those who died from accident occurring or disease contracted, while training with or attached to the NZEF in New Zealand - 505 deaths. It was found by cross-referencing the two sources that there were names missing from the book, names in the book but not on the CWGC as well as many discrepancies in death dates, Reg. No, spelling of Surname, spelling of Christian Names, as well as some on the CWGC who are listed in the book under different names altogether. These discrepancies are noted on the entries below and have been forwarded on to the Commonwealth War Graves.

Please note that the CWGC cut off date is 01 September 1921 whereas the Roll of Honour book cut off date is 31 December 1923
