The source appears to be an index to a set of licensing records rather than the licenses themselves. Resource contains two parts: Part I Grooms, Part II Brides. This is an indicator of the sort order; both bride and groom are included for each entry. The resource is represented in the Internet Archive as a single volume, but on the title page the contents are indicated as being separated into eight books:
The entries are arranged in five columns (left-to-right):
Names appear in "surname, given name" format. In some cases, there are notes suggesting one or another spelling for a name, suggesting transcription from a handwritten source with some legibility deficits. In the space between Page and Date there sometimes appears "Lic", which might indicate a license date as opposed to an actual marriage date, though there is not a key / usage guide for the source itself. |
