Today, there are many (>70) "Quaas" in the telephone book for the Altenburg, Germany area. I have family history information, which pertains to the Quaas family in villages near Wintersdorf (which is NW of Altenburg and SE of Leipzig), which extends back to 1720. My great-great-grandfather (Gottlieb or John G. Quass) emigrated to USA in 1853, settling in Linn, Iowa in 1855 near his older brother (Gottfried or Godfrey Quaas), who emigrated with his wife (Mary Landmann) in 1849. Help!
