Whorwellsdown Hundred includes the town of Trowbridge and its western border is with the county of Somerset. To the north are the hundreds of Bradford, Melksham and Potterne and Cannings, to the east is a small section of Swanborough Hundred, and to the south is Westbury Hundred. According to John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72, it covered 19,308 acres and had a population of 5,505 inhabiting 1,234 houses.
