Wetherby Rural District was located in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974 where it was named after the small town of Wetherby within its borders. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and split between Leeds Metropolitan Borough and the Harrogate District or the Borough of Harrogate. The Harrogate portion was transferred to the new administrative county of North Yorkshire while the Leeds Metropolitan Borough parishes were now in West Yorkshire rather than the West Riding of Yorkshire.
