Location
A search of the GNIS does not bring up this cemetery in Jackson county, therefore, it is assumed for now that this cemetery, if it currently exists, is most likely situated in, around or near the Westport neighborhood (Google Map with boundaries) of Kansas City. This is a midtown environment with a lot of foot traffic.

The only memorial in this cemetery at FindAGrave with a headstone picture is a duplicate of a memorial in Woodlawn Cemetery, therefore, it has not been included in this list. Ignoring the duplicate memorial, the rest of the memorials are from abt 1843 to 1857, which would correspond with the various outbreaks of cholera which hit the Overland Trail.
Speculation
- Possible Location
- "A cholera outbreak in 1849 had quickly filled both existing family plots and the first city cemetery at 5th and Oak, established in 1847." [1] There does not appear to be a cemetery at 5th and Oak currently. 5th & Oak is also a bit far north to be considered Westport, but who knows how large Westport was considered in 1847.
- Possible Relocation
- Union Cemetery is the closest cemetery to the Westport area and ... "The northeast portion [of Union Cemetery] may include mass graves from the Civil War and relocated graves from previous cemeteries." [2]
