Note: The first Walton County was created in 1803 as a Georgia county and was reported in 1810 as part of Georgia; it was abolished in 1812 after a review of the State boundary determined its area to be located in North Carolina. The present-day Walton County was created in 1818, comprising territory included in Jackson County in 1810.
