The civil parish of Sutton with Stoneferry was located between that of Wawne and the borough of Kingston upon Hull during the 19th century. It was made up of Stoneferry, a hamlet where there was a ferry across the River Hull, and Sutton, a village to the south on the outskirts of Kingston upon Hull.

In 1894 the parish was reduced in size with a portion of Sutton established as a separate civil parish of Sutton on Hull. In 1935 Sutton with Stoneferry was abolished, with the remaining bit of Sutton joining Sutton on Hull, and Stoneferry being absorbed into Wawne.

Sutton with Stoneferry was part of Sculcoates Rural District. The district was abolished in 1935 and its civil parishes were distributed amongst the neighbouring local authorities.
