The civil parish names can be read with a magnifying glass. The lightly coloured areas were parts of parishes transferred from one district council to another during the period 1894-1974. Most of the area in yellow was transferred to Haltemprice Urban District in 1935, but some was absorbed by Kingston upon Hull.
Sculcoates Rural District was located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England from 1894 to 1935. The district formed three separate areas around Kingston upon Hull municipal borough. The district was created by the Local Government Act 1894 and was abolished in 1935 by a County Review Order made under the Local Government Act 1929. The area then formed part of Holderness Rural District and the Haltemprice Urban District (both newly created). At the same time some civil parishes were transferred to Beverley Rural District and the municipal boroughs of Hedon and Kingston upon Hull.
