Township of Sharon
Sharon is a township in the county of Noble, state of Ohio, United States of America. It is bordered in Noble County by the townships of Brookfield and Noble to the north, Olive to the east, Jackson to the south, and in Morgan County, Center to the south and Manchester to the west.
After the creation of Noble County, Sharon Township was erected 1 May 1851.
In 1851, the boundaries were defined as follows:
Commencing at the southeast corner of the west half of section 32, in township 6 of range 9; thence north through the center of sections 32, 29, 20, 17, 8 and 5 to the northeast corner of the west half of section 5, in said township 6 and range 9; thence west along township lines to the northwest corner of section 3, in township 6 and range 10; thence south along section lines to the southwest corner of section 34 in said township and range; thence east along the township lines to the place of beginning; containing twenty-seven sections.
The town of Sharon was surveyed and platted 22 March 1831 under the proprietorship of Robert Rutherford and Edward Parrish. The original plat consisted of fourteen lots. The Sharon Post Office was established on 4 Feb. 1831, with Rev. Robert Rutherford as postmaster. A Presbyterian church was erected here in 1823.
