Old Stratford is a civil parish in the south of the English county of Northamptonshire. It was formed in 1951 as part of a civil parish boundary change which divided the former parish of Deanshanger (once named Passenham) into two (generally east and west) and also absorbed some of the parish of Furtho on its east. The rest of Furtho was absorbed into Cosgrove. (Sources: Ordnance Survey map of 1944 and Ordnance Survey map of 1965).

The new parish took the settlements of both Old Stratford and Passenham from the parish of Deanshanger. The population of the parish at the 2011 Census was 1,935.

The 'Stratford' part of the village name is Anglo-Saxon in origin and means 'ford on a Roman road'. The Roman road in this sense is the Watling Street that runs through the middle of the town.

The village is governed by West Northamptonshire council, a unitary authority. Prior to local government changes in 2021 it was administered by the South Northamptonshire District council, based in Towcester.
