Norton Township was a civil township of Muskegon County, Michigan until in 1968 it voted to incorporate as the City of Norton Shores.

In the traditional township numbering for the State of Michigan, Norton Township occupied the area east of Lake Michigan of both T 9 N, R 17 W and the western portions of T 9 N, R 16 W.
