Northchurch is a civil parish in Hertfordshire, England. It was originally known as Berkhamsted St. Mary but became known as 'Northchurch' indicating that it was the northern of the two churches at Berkhamsted. Being slightly removed from the other Berkhamsted (Berkhamsted St Peter), Northchurch developed as a separate village. However, development in the twentieth century has now brought Northchurch within the urban area of Berkhamsted, physically joining the two ancient parts of Berkhamsted. That said, Northchurch remains administratively separate from Berkhamsted with its own parish council.
