Masham Moor was a parochial area which was part of the ancient parish of Masham and of the Masham Urban District which existed from 1894 until 1934. When Masham changed from an urban district to Masham Rural District, the area of Masham Moor was broken up and distributed between the civil parishes of Colsterdale, Healey (formerly Healey with Sutton) and Ilton cum Pott. In the 1931 census, prior to its abolition, it had a population of zero, but covered more than 8,500 acres of moorland to the west of the town of Masham. (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time)
