GENUKI, taking material from a gazetteer of the 1820s, describes Lead Hall of Lead as follows:

"LEAD HALL, (or Lead, at one time extra parochial) in the parish of Ryther, wapentake of Barkston Ash; 4 miles SW. of Tadcaster. Population 50."
