GENUKI provides a description of Henstead Hundred from White's History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Norfolk 1845. It includes information about the locality and a table showing the populations of the individual parishes in 1841.
A map, also from GENUKI, illustrates the locations of the various parishes within the hundred.
Henstead Hundred is immediately southeast of Norwich. It contained a number of ancient parishes established around churches in towns and villages. These ancient parishes have often merged into a single civil parish encompassing the whole town.
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Henstead Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1871-72:
- "HENSTEAD, a hundred in Norfolk....It is nearly conterminate with Henstead [registration] sub-district....Population: 5,729. Houses: 1,289."
