Heald Green has been, since 1974, a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. In the south-west of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, near Manchester Airport, it is bordered by Gatley and Cheadle to the north, Cheadle Hulme to the east, Handforth and Styal to the south and Wythenshawe to the west.
According to the United Kingdom Census, the Heald Green Ward had a population of 12,640 in 2001.
Immediately prior to 1974 Heald Green was located in Cheadle and Gatley Urban District in the county of Cheshire. The boundary between Cheshire and Lancashire in this area has been moved several times over the past two centuries. A discussion of the changes is to be found in the Wikipedia article on Cheadle Hulme under "Governance". This can be compared with the map from A Vision of Britain through Time dated 1944.
