The Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster is a metropolitan borough within the modern county of South Yorkshire. The borough was created on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972. It was made a unitary authority in 1986. A map in Wikipedia shows that Doncaster covers the northeastern quarter of South Yorkshire.

The new borough was a merger of the principal settlement of Doncaster and a number of surrounding urban and rural districts. Unless specified, all the places listed were in the West Riding of Yorkshire prior to the formation of South Yorkshire in 1974.
