Broomhaugh and Riding was a civil parish formed in 1955 from the former civil parishes of Broomhaugh and Riding. The civil parish contains the village of Riding Mill.

From 1955 it was part of Hexham Rural District. In 1974 rural districts were abolished and Broomhaugh and Riding became part of the Tynedale District until 2009 when Northumberland became a unitary authority.
