Barnwell is a civil parish formed in 1935 when the parishes of Barnwell All Saints and Barnwell St. Andrew merged to become one parish. When it was formed it became part of the Oundle and Thrapston Rural District. In 1974 the rural district gave way to the East Northamptonshire District of Northamptonshire, England.
