Which regiment did Lorenzo Ackley (1815-1877) serve in? We're trying to mark all of the Civil War veterans here on WeRelate. Thanks! --Amy (Ajcrow) 08:35, 6 November 2011 (EST)

I got the two Lorenzo Ackleys sorted out again. I have the pension papers for the younger Lorenzo, but can't get to them right now.

The younger Lorenzo Ackley, based on his 1890 veteran's census, served in the 72nd PA Infantry Volunteers Co A (10 Aug 1861-18 Nov 1862) and the 1st Veterans Reserve Corp, Co H (7 Aug 1863-17 Nov 1965). He also served in the Army after the Civil War.

The elder Lorenzo Ackley, based on Civil War databases on Ancestry.com and the PA Civil War index cards, served 82 PA Infantry, Co I (12 Sep 1861-17 Mar 1863) (corporal, age at enrollment = 44) and the 3rd PA Heavy Artillery Co K (8 Jun 1863-9 Nov 1865) (private -> corp (10 Jul 1863) -> sergeant (1 Aug 1965)) (age at enrollment = 42). He was also a veteran of the Mexican-American War.
