Klaas Madderom [24 October 2013]

"Klaas Madderom, the oldest member of the Ton family, whose annual reunions are attended by hundreds, is dead... born Nov. 5, 1819, was one of the oldest residents of the district, coming to Chicago from the Netherlands, his native country, in 1852"... [died in 1902], I've not yet search for how he is related. --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:39, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Tons Seek to Incorporate; Family Shows 601 Members
Heads of Clan File Certificate - Trace Descent to Nine Dutch Immigrants Who Came in 1849
The Ton family, which claims to be the largest family in Illinois and one of the largest in the country, yesterday filed a certificate of incorporation at Springfield. This is the first family in Illinois to incorporate under the laws of the state. The incorporators, all members of the family, are Mrs. John Ton, the oldest living member of the family; John C. Ton, A.J. Ton, Adam Inthout, Nellie Ton Jansen, John Madderom, Cornelius H. Ton, J.H. Ton, H.R. Koopman, and Cornelius J. Ton.
The 601 members of the family living today are all descendants of John Ton, who died in 1843. Six of his nine children came to American from Holland. The family has grown from twenty-six members in 1840, when the first Ton came to America, to its present number.
The annual reunion this year will be held on Thursday at Calumet Grove, Blue Island. The incorporation of the family will be celebrated and gold buttons of the Ton family will be distributed. --Jennifer (JBS66) 18:39, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
