Person talk:John Thurston (4)

From John Thurston (7): Spurious? [9 September 2009]

Is this John Thurston and his brother Person:Thomas Thurston (6) b. 1637 the same person?

Source:Thurston genealogies, 1635-1880, p. 357 says Thomas, bp. 1633 is the oldest son (Person:Thomas Thurston (5), and since he is shown marrying Sarah Thaxter, there is no indication that he died young.

So who is the Thomas Thurston shown b. 1637 (Person:Thomas Thurston (6))?

The Thurston Gen. shows John, bp. 1635 in England as the next brother.Since John is shown marrying a Mary Wood, there is no indication in this source that he died young. So where did this John, shown b. Roxbury in 1641 come from?

No birth for John Thurston is found in Source:Vital records of Roxbury, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849. Neither is such a birth found in town or a baptism in church records of Dedham.

The church records found in Source:The early records of the town of Dedham, Massachusetts, p. 25, says "John Thurstone was received into ye church 28th. 3rd. 1641" [28 May 1641], but this is clearly the admission of an adult, the father, and not the baptism of a child.
