Person talk:John Huggins (2)

I don't believe it's realistic that John Huggins was born in New Hampshire. Any proof ?

I don't think that's a fact I would support. There were some very early fishing colonies on the Isles of Shoals, but I think they were entirely male during the period of interest - and were probably only temporary during the Summer. I would have to check my history. Suspect that a "residence" or "of such and such a place" got turned into a birthplace reference. --Jrm03063 18:31, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

The only birthplace I can find is "England". I will go ahead and change. Also, I have found John's will and death date, and a reference to a book that includes gleanings for early settlers in New Hampshire.

The book, “Transcripts of Original Documents in the English Archives Relating to the Early History of the State of New Hampshire,” edited by John Scribner Jenness, Privately Printed, New York ,1876, is available at: http://home.insightbb.com/~geneo.sales/ on fully linked CD. --Neal Gardner 19:17, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

The link above is not working for me. Darn !--Neal Gardner 19:19, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

I've put the source out there in the open. Since the Jenness family were early settlers of Rye (next town above Hampton), it's almost a sure thing that this family is treated in your source. --Jrm03063 20:15, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
